These were great!






The Farthingale.

Originated in the 15th century in Spain.
Normal part of the underclothing of women
in the 16th and 17th century.
It enlarged the lower body,
and supported the skirt.
Three different shapes were used:
1. cone,
2. hoops from the waist down, increasing in size,
sown in an underskirt,
3. standing roll.

This is a standing roll.
Not displayed well.
I think it's placed over a square box.
